Indian Navy decommissions INS Magar after 36 years of service

After 36 years of service, INS Magar, the oldest landing ship of the Indian Navy was decommissioned in Kochi recently. A ceremony was held to decommission the ship during which the ship's timeline and a special postage cover were released. The ship has been a vital asset to the Indian Navy for over 30 years and has been instrumental in various naval operations ranging from amphibious operations, Fleet deployments and HADR missions like the evacuation of civilians from the affected areas during the December 2004 Tsunami.
