Supriya Sule, the three time MP of the Nationalist Congress Party (SP) won the Baramati seat against NCP's Sunetra Pawar in Maharashtra Elections. Sule won again by a margin of 1,58,333 votes. This victory makes her fourth consecutive win from the Pawar bastion. 04 April,2024 05:05 PM ISTIt will be a family contest on the Baramati seat in Maharashtra as the suspense ended on Saturday when Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party announced Sunetra Pawar, Ajit Pawar's wife, from the seat against Sharad Pawar-led Supriya Sule. With this the final showdown begins for the Pawar Vs Pawar battle in one of the Maharastra's most high profile seats Baramati. Nationalist Congress Party (Ajit Pawar) leader Sunetra Pawar’s candidature as Baramati candidate was announced on 30th March. Supriya Sule is the sitting MP from the seat since 2009. Her name was officially announced. On her candidature from Baramati, NCP candidate Sunetra Pawar said, “Today is a huge day for me. I want to thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union HM Amit Shah, Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar for showing faith one me.”
31 March,2024 11:11 AM ISTIn a big setback to the faction led by Sharad Pawar, the Election Commission on February 06 settled the dispute in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in favour of the faction led by the petitioner Ajit Pawar. Celebration took over at Ajit Pawar Camp, as EC settled dispute in NCP. The poll panel has given the NCP name and symbol to the faction led by Ajit Pawar in a significant decision that has a bearing on the forthcoming polls. The decision was taken after more than 10 hearings spread over more than six months. Maharashtra Dy CM and petitioner Ajit Pawar welcomed the decision and expressed gratitude to EC for the decision. Meanwhile, NCP Sharad Pawar Faction leader Supriya Sule alleged an “Adrishya Shakti” behind the EC’s decision. Shiva Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi called the development “Sponsored, planned and executed by Central Govt”. Notably, test of majority in legislative wing found favour in the circumstance of the case, where both groups have been found to be working outside party constitution and organizational elections.
