After celebrating Pongal, PM Narendra Modi on January 14, fed cows at his official residence in Delhi on the occasion of Makar Sankranti 2024. The mini cows were seen munching on fodder and fresh grasses as they enjoyed affectionate gesture by PM Modi. Notably, January 14 marks celebrations of different festivals across India. Bihu, Pongal, Bhogi, Uttarayan are some of festivals celebrated on the day to mark the passing of winter season. On January 14th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also attended the Pongal 2024 celebrations in Delhi. The celebrations event was organised at the residence of Union Minister L Murugan.

A young singer performed at the event and later touched PM Modi's feet. Prime Minister gifted her his shawl as a special gesture. At PM Modi’s Pongal celebration said, “Pongal depicts emotion of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat'. This emotion of unity will give strength to the 'Viksit Bharat' of 2047...". PM Narendra Modi further said, "The country celebrated the festival of Lohri yesterday. Some people are celebrating Makar Sankranti today and some people will celebrate tomorrow, Magh Bihu is also coming, I extend my greetings to the countrymen for these festivals."
