Govt to set up Special Purpose Vehicles to make India-made aircraft

Govt to set up Special Purpose Vehicles to make India-made aircraft

India is advancing into aircraft manufacturing with the goal of becoming a global hub in the sector. Civil Aviation Minister Naidu emphasized the drive to produce indigenous planes, with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) at the forefront, leveraging its experience with a 119-seater aircraft. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) will be established, consisting of industry experts to manage the development of domestic aircraft, while initially sourcing some components and engines externally. The SPV will identify and address gaps in India's aviation infrastructure over the next five years. Major players like Airbus and Boeing might collaborate, bringing their expertise to bolster the domestic industry. Additionally, the Narendra Modi Government plans to enhance Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities, supporting the broader development of India’s aviation sector.
