Thanks to measures adopted by the International Cricket Council to prevent fixing of any kind from taking place during international fixtures, players of participating teams are totally cut off from the rest of the world during a match. The story was no different when India met Australia for the second ODI at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here yesterday.
The instruction board outside the Indian entrance read: “You are now entering a restricted area therefore you must comply with specific International Cricket Council regulations.
The use of laptop computers that are connected to the Internet is prohibited. The use of any other software system that provides accesses to e-mails or text messages is prohibited.”
A private security guard saw some of the players handing over their phones to an official before the game. “I saw the Australian players deposit their phones and other gadgets in a bag with their security officer just before entering the players area.
There are same instructions displayed outside the Indian team’s entrance too, ” the guard standing at Gate No 20 told MiD DAY.
ICC’s Anti Corruption and Security Unit officials Niranjan Virk and Dharamveer Singh Yadav are also travelling with the teams to keep a close watch on players.u00a0
