The truck that left from Kalyan for Sholapur on Sunday night was heavily loaded with iron roads on which the driver kept the bed sheets and made the space for the labour workers to sit to drop them all the way to Karnataka.
The driver also hitched ride to people from Dehu Road and Pimri village. The accident took place at 12.30 am when the driver lost control of the truck.
Baban Chatham, Assistant Police Inspector from Yawat Police station said, "Most bodies have been identified, while the injured are being given first aid in local hospitals. The driver is absconding. We will trace him down at the earliest. The relatives of the deceased have been informed."
