It is learnt that he was later asked by a selector what made him play that shot. The young batsman is believed to have told the selector that he was told to play in that fashion. He was then urged to hang around and anchor the innings in future. Jaiswal appeared to have listened to the selector and worked his way to an unbeaten 84 in the next game which India won by nine wickets. He scored five in the last game of the series which the hosts won to clinch the series 3-2.

Incidentally, the selector also said that the committee was surprised that Jaiswal was not part of the team for the first two T20Is. After all, he had enjoyed a good IPL 2023 with Rajasthan Royals for whom he scored 625 runs in 14 games at 48.08, with one hundred against Mumbai Indians on April 30.
