Mumbai Indians not giving up on Brabourne Stadium

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been re-scheduled following the terror attacks on Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been re-scheduled following the terror attacks on Sri Lankan cricketers in Pakistan. Security concerns were raised after the incident and the T20 league, which clashed with the Lok Sabha elections, was tweaked and revised to a certain extent.

In all probability Brabourne Stadium at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) will host the Mumbai Indians' ties. IPL chief Lalit Modi said recently that the Mumbai Indians (Reliance team) would most probably like to play its games there. Yet, with less than one month to go before the IPL takes off there is no solid confirmation on the same.

CCI's CEO K 'Bonny' Rajpal said, "We heard Modi's comments. Yet, the club does not have anything in writing."

Rajpal said that some ties might be held at the CCI since, "It looks like everybody wants it to be held at the club. We have a problem with the members though, so let us see what happens," he finished warily.

Modi said over the phone when asked about Mumbai Indians ties being held at the CCI, "You need to speak to the Mumbai Indians about that to be sure."

Talks still on
Mumbai Indians' spokesperson Tushar Pania said, "We are still talking to CCI about the feasibility of having the Mumbai Indians matches there. There are a lot of internal issues with reference to CCI though we are very hopeful and keen that the Mumbai Indians matches be held at the CCI instead of the D Y Patil Sports Stadium in Navi Mumbai."

Pania said that the south Mumbai club is a, "prime location" and, "as the Mumbai Indians would be staying in south Mumbai commuting to Navi Mumbai could prove too tiring. Even the last time, there were at least two teams in the IPL who refused to commute to D Y Patil for practice sessions because of the distance."u00a0u00a0u00a0

Matches in Mumbai after revised schedule
April:
10 (opening match), 12, 15, 18, 26.
May: 9, 10, 12, 22, 24 (final)u00a0
