The star Indian pacer is also handy with the bat. Representing the country in 64 tests, the veteran has scored 750 runs at an average of 12.09. Shami also has registered two half-centuries in the longest format of the game, both coming against England. He has often been a part of some match-saving, entertaining partnerships.

Mohammed Shami had a dream run in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India last year. He finished off the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets in just seven outings. In the semi-finals of the mega event, He bagged seven wickets against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium. 

As he is still not fully recovered from his ankle injury, he has not been included in the first two test matches against England. After securing a win in the T20Is series against Afghanistan, Team India will lock horns with England at home. The first test match will come into action on January 25.
