Despite claiming the last nine Australian wickets for 154 runs, delivering their best bowling effort of the series, India were 120 runs short of making Australia bat again when stumps were drawn on Day Two of the third Test here at the Western Australia Cricket Association Ground (WACA) on Saturday.

Rahul Dravid (32) and Virat Kohli (21) will resume India's second innings today, with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy all but lost to Australia. India lost Gautam Gambhir (14), Virender Sehwag (10), Sachin Tendulkar (8) and VVS Laxman (0) in the space of 20 overs.

Earlier, David Warner picked up two streaky boundaries off Zaheer Khan to start the day, before a monstrous straight six off Ishant Sharma.

Dropped...
Batting on 126, he was dropped by Virat Kohli at first slip. Thereafter, he went into the shell, scoring his next 32 runs off 44 balls, before launching into Ishant with some fabulous cutting and pulling. Though Warner continued to play his shots, India slowly sneaked their way back into the game, thanks to a top spell by Umesh Yadav -- who eventually claimed his maiden five-wicket haul in Test cricket.

Yadav's prized scalp was that of Ricky Ponting -- a full in-swinging ball that went through the gate of the former Australian captain. "To be honest, I wouldn't call Ponting my best wicket or anything. I enjoy taking anyone's wicket. I got my length right today, it was little fuller, and I am glad to have reaped the rewards," Yadav said.

Learning curve
"There was no change in the wicket from the first day (when Australia piled on 149-0). Warner likes to play his shots, he was able to clear the fence easily yesterday. Sometimes you are able to do it as a bowler, and sometimes you can't. It's a learning curve for me," the rookie fast bowler added.

Warner eventually fell to Ishant in the 56th over when Yadav claimed a neat catch running to his back at the long-on fence. Australia folded up for 369, but managed a strong 208-run lead. "I was under pressure to catch Warner. The ball was travelling away from me, and he (Warner) was batting on 180, so it was an important catch. It would have been bad for us if I dropped it," said Yadav.

Yadav felt that India's batting woes haven't helped the bowlers' cause. India's totals in the series so far: 282, 169, 191, 400, 161 and 88-4. "The batsmen are not able to make runs. Put it to bad luck or anything. Each and every batsman is trying very hard, but unfortunately it's not happening," he rued.
