West Indies were fined for slow over-rate during their 15-run loss to Sri Lanka in the final Group C match of the Twenty20 World Cup at Trent Bridge.

ICC Match referee Chris Broad of England imposed the fine after Denesh Ramdin-led side was ruled to be two overs short of its target at the end of the Sri Lanka innings yesterday when time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with the International Cricket Council Code of Conduct regulations governing over-rate penalties, players are fined five per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, stand-in skipper Ramdin was fined 20 per cent of his match fee while the West Indian players received 10 per-cent fines. Notwithstanding the defeat, West Indies had qualified for the Super Eight stage of the Twenty20 World Cup along with Sri Lanka from G roup C.
