Soon after Sehwag's tweet, axed England cricketer Kevin Pietersen re-tweeted, saying: "You should! I would vote for you.."

Sehwag's name came up in the poll fray after the report quoted highly placed sources as saying that the Congress was considering to field the Nawab of Najafgarh from a South Delhi seat.

It is noteworthy to mention that Sehwag's sister Anju Meherwal is a municipal councillor from Dakshinpuri Extension ward, which is part of the South Delhi constituency.

The Congress has already nominated five sitting MPs in the national capital while the remaining two seats are yet to be named.
