There is trouble brewing before the start (March 11) of the inaugural T20 Mumbai League after two petitions were filed in the Bombay High Court in the last two days.
On Monday, activist Jayesh Mirani, the president of the All Maharashtra Human Rights Welfare Association (AMHRWA), filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) against the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) after receiving a complaint from Rakesh Nagar that the functioning of MCA for the T20 league is allegedly suspicious and that the committee members are having a direct interest in the company/organisation whose tender has been accepted. The PIL is scheduled to come up for hearing today.
Yesterday, MCA member Nadim Memon filed a writ petition, urging the Bombay High Court to stay the proposed T20 league as the MCA Managing Committee did not have the mandatory quorum of eligible members to transact any business as its two-year term had expired last year. The petition also urged the court to appoint an administrator to implement the Lodha panel's reforms.
