It's a weird situation for Team India. With fast bowler Ishant Sharma ready for next month's tri-series, the selectors are all set to give him some rest. Sharma, who hasn't been upto the mark, claiming only four wickets so far in the series, will make way for the experienced Irfan Pathan.
There won't be much debate over the top-order batting, barring the No 6 slot, for which Bengal's Manoj Tiwary and Mumbai's Ajinkya Rahane are contenders. But the Bengal batsman may have the last laugh, thanks to his maiden century against the West Indies last month. Tiwary's brilliant Ranji Trophy season will also work in his favour. The right-hander amassed 595 in four innings, including three centuries.
Meanwhile, the team management is likely to ask for Parthiv Patel as the second wicket-keeper. But the selectors are pressing on the fact that Wriddhiman Saha, who is already with the Test squad, should get the nod as he has got acclimatised to the conditions Down Under.
