Sania Mirza and Chia-Jung Chuang fought valiantly but lost a tough semi-final battle to crash out of the Madrid Open. The Hyderabadi-Chinese pair went down in straight sets against third seeds Kveta Peschke and Lisa Raymod.

The unseeded Indo-Taipei pair pushed their opponents to limits before losing 6-7 (4), 4-6 to the Czech-American pair in one hour and 26 minutes, last night.
Sania and Chuang squandered seven breakpoints in the match while saving three.
Their opponents were more successful in cashing in on the chances as they converted six out of nine breakpoints.
