Rafael Nadal pronounced himself quite pleased after returning to the court after a month-and-a-half away due to the knee tendinitis that forced him to miss Wimbledon after losing his French Open crown.
"I'm happy to be back on court doing what I like with a racket in my hand," said the World No 2 Nadal after spending an hour-and-a-quarter in light training with his uncle and coach Toni Nadal.
"It was only a small workout, I didn't force anything, I just wanted to see how I would feel," said the four-time French Open champion whose last match was a fourth-round loss in Paris on May 31 to eventual finalist Robin Soderling.
"I want to remain cautious. In a week and I half we will know more. But I'm happy with it so far," said Nadal, who was planning his return to the ATP when the Montreal Masters starts Aug 9.
