Chelsea defender David Luiz has not travelled to Switzerland for tonight's Champions League group game with Basel because of a knee injury, the Premier League club announced yesterday.
However, striker Fernando Torres was included in the 21-man squad after sitting out Chelsea’s last three games with an adductor muscle injury.

“Torres has recovered from the adductor muscle injury which kept him out of the last three games but David Luiz has a bruised patella,” read a statement on the Chelsea website.
“He will be out for approximately one week, joining Marco van Ginkel as the only player missing from the squad list for the competition announced in September.”
Luiz’s absence means that John Terry and Gary Cahill are likely to continue in central defence, having played alongside each other in Saturday’s 3-0 win at West Ham United.
Chelsea lost at home to Basel in their opening Group E game, but they can secure a place in the last 16 with a draw at St Jakob-Park Stadium.u00a0
