India's Rizvi College (Mumbai) beat Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology of Pakistan by 10 runs in the South Asia finals of the Red Bull Campus Cricket here yesterday.
Responding to Rizvi College’s 149 for eight in 20 overs, the Pakistani side was 10 runs short in the end. Neil Narvekar (37) top-scored for Rizvi College.
The final went down to the wire with Pakistan needing 18 runs off the last over. But they could only manage eight in the face of Mumbai all-rounder Kaustubh Pawar’s tight line. In the penultimate over, the winners conceded 18 runs.
Rizvi College skipper Swapnil Salve admitted that there was some pressure on them playing against a Pakistani side. “We were under a bit of pressure while batting, but our bowlers kept cool and made it.
It’s a great feeling to win the tournament by beating a Pakistani side. I never thought I’d be playing against Pakistan. Siddesh Lad of Rizvi College was adjudged the man of the series ($1000) and the best batsman ($500) of the tournament.
