Rizvi Springfield tweaker Sidak Singh's four for 59 helped the Bandra team restrict IES VN Sule Guruji to 298 in 162.5 overs on Day Two of the Giles Shield Elite Division final at Cricket Club of India yesterday. The Bandra school ended the day on 37-0 in 11 overs.

For Sule Guruji, overnight batsman Vaishnav Narvekar scored 71. Vaishnav was caught by Rizvi's Hushnain Khan at mid-wicket off pacer Prakhar Gupta in the 100th over. But it was the seventh wicket partnership of 62 runs in 162 balls between Tanush Kotiyan (71) and Rohit Vaidya (21) that helped the Dadar team reach 298.

Sidak scalped Sule Guruji's Tanush Kotian, Rohit Vaidya, Dhruva Vedak (6) and Omkar Rane (22). Tailender Parth Sawant's wicket was claimed by Sairaj Shetty in the 163 over while Abhishek Vaity remained not out on five. Sidak was in seventh heaven when he learnt about his selection in the U-14 Mumbai team yesterday. The Mumbai U-14 team is scheduled to play in the U-14 West Zone League in Baroda that gets underway fromu00a0 January 22.

Sidak, the second highest wicket taker (43) behind Dhruva Vedak (44) of Sule Guruji, wants to win the Giles Shield title before heading to Baroda. "It's an honour to represent Mumbai in the intra-state event in Baroda. But before that I want to win the Giles Shield for my school. It's doubly exciting to have Usama Parker, Azim Shaikh, Vipul Rathore, Prithvi Shaw and Armaan Jaffer in the Mumbai team," said the 12-year-old.

Commenting on the wicket, Sidak said: "The pitch was flat with no turn for the bowlers. But the six to seven maiden overs that we bowled on the trot in the afternoon built pressure on them. "The batsmen succumbed to pressure and played some bad shots which helped me to pick up wickets."
