Reigning world and Olympic double sprint champion Usain Bolt has warned his legion of fans not to expect him to better his own world record for the 100 metres.

Bolt stormed to Olympic gold at the 2008 Beijing Games in a world record time of 9.69 seconds and then bettered that to 9.58sec when winning the world title in Berlin a year later.

Incredibly, he mirrored that feat in the 200m, also setting world records, latterly of 19.19sec in the German capital.

But the 24-year-old Jamaican insisted that attaining that level would not be happening this season as he works on regaining his fluency and technique following a slowly-slowly approach to his comeback from injury.

"I'm a long way off 9.58sec," Bolt admitted ahead of the Diamond League meeting here today, when he will run the 100m. "I could get to 9.6 or 9.7, I'm working on it. I'm taking my time and every day it's coming together better. But 9.58 is not a joke. I'm not going to lie to myself and say that I'll get there. It's not going to happen this season."
