In the wake of match referee Jeff Crowe's negative report (as reported in MiD DAY) on the Ahmedabad pitch prepared for the India-Sri Lanka Test, BCCI president Shashank Manohar has called an emergency meeting of the pitches and grounds committee on December 16 in Mumbai.

The president will be discussing ways and means to improve the pitches in India.

The Indian board is taking a serious view of Crowe's report in which he termed the wicket in Ahmedabad as 'below average.'

MiD DAY has also learnt that Daljit Singh, the chairman of the pitches and grounds committee, has sent out letters to all association staging the India-Sri Lanka one-day matches.

Daljit has urged groundsman to prepare good tracks, which should be firm, have good carry and bounce, not have much lateral movement and have a uniform cover of grass.
