Former South African paceman Allan Donald appears poised to join New Zealand as a bowling consultant after the Black Caps confirmed Tuesday they were in talks with the 44-year-old.
New Zealand Cricket said Donald was in the country for discussions but details of his role would not be released until they were finalised.
The most likely option would see the Black Caps appoint Donald as bowling coach to tap the experience he gathered during a Test career which saw him claim 330 wickets.
The appointment of Donald, who retired from Test cricket in 2002, would continue a shake-up of the Black Caps' support staff since John Wright was appointed head coach in December.
