On August 17, BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra sharply criticized West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the handling of a rape-murder case in Kolkata. Patra accused Banerjee of attempting to cover up the crime and questioned the sudden transfer of 40-50 doctors involved in the case. He criticized Banerjee for protesting with placards despite holding multiple key portfolios, questioning her motives and actions. Patra also highlighted concerns about police intimidation against those discussing the case on social media and alleged misleading information provided to the victim’s family. He expressed gratitude to the lawyers and the Calcutta High Court for their role in seeking justice, noting their frustration with the West Bengal government`s response. The Kolkata doctor rape and murder case has now become a national issue with doctors protesting and demanding justice for the victim across the nation.
