From March 1, the base fares of taxis and autos in Mumbai were hiked by Rs 3 by the Maharashtra government. But the state transport department has been facing a low response due to the tedious fare meter recalibration. Auto and taxi drivers have been reluctant in getting their meters recalibrated due to the high cost and the tedious process.

Central Railway has come up with a scheme to make daily commuting for women safer. The service has been named `Smart Sahelee` where SMART stands for Suburban Mumbai Assertive Rail Travellers.
