Kolkata unrest: BJP Vs TMC | Protest takes a political turn - WATCH
On August 28, the BJP called for a 12-hour `Bengal Bandh` to protest against the West Bengal government after police clashed with protestors during the Nabanna Abhijan Rally. The rally, held on August 27, was organized to demand justice for the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata`s RG Kar Medical College. During the protest, police used lathis and tear gas to disperse the crowd, leading to further tensions. In response, BJP leaders took to the streets, criticizing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and demanding action. The West Bengal Police detained several BJP leaders as the Kolkara unrest continued. TMC leader Kunal Ghosh accused the BJP of trying to create chaos in the state, adding to the already heightened emotions surrounding the tragic incident.
Bangladesh unrest: CM Yogi condemns atrocities done on Bangladeshi Hindus
On August 14, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath spoke at an event in Lucknow marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. He drew a comparison between the violence of the 1947 Partition and the situation in Pakistan and Bangladesh today. Adityanath mentioned that the atrocities, such as killings and attacks against Hindus, which occurred during the Partition, are still happening in these countries. He highlighted that during the Partition, around one million Hindus were killed, and similar acts of arson, vandalism, and violence against women are occurring now. Adityanath urged people to learn from the historical mistakes of the Partition to prevent such horrors from happening again. Watch video for more.
