On September 5, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed at the Parliament House of Singapore. This visit came shortly after a ministerial roundtable meeting between India and Singapore, which included four Indian ministers and six Singaporean ministers. During his visit, PM Modi held talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. In his address, Modi expressed a strong desire to emulate Singapore’s success in India. He congratulated Wong on his new role and praised Singapore as a model for development. Modi mentioned that he wants to build “many Singapores” in India, reflecting his admiration for Singapore’s achievements. He highlighted the ministerial roundtable as a groundbreaking step in enhancing cooperation between the two countries. He also issued a stern warning to those who assist or harbor these criminals, stressing that aiding wrongdoers would not be tolerated and would be met with severe consequences. Modi’s remarks underscored his administration`s commitment to ensuring justice for victims and tackling violence against women with utmost seriousness, reinforcing the need for collective vigilance and accountability in combating this pervasive issue.
