Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday attacked the BJP, alleging that the saffron party did not want the children of farmers and labourers to learn English and progress with the world. Speaking at a Bharat Jodo Yatra rally in Rajasthan’s Alwar, Rahul Gandhi said: “BJP leaders don`t want English to be taught in schools.But children of all their leaders go to English-medium schools. Actually, they don`t want children of poor farmers and labourers to learn English, dream big and get out of the fields.”  Furthermore, he emphasised the importance of the English language across the Globe.  “Wherever BJP leaders go, they talk against English. English should not be taught in schools. Sometimes you ask them in which school their son studies? All their children of CMs, MPs, MLAs go to English medium schools. They do not want the child of the poor of the country to learn English. I do not say that Hindi or other languages should not be learned, but if you want to talk to other countries of the world, then Hindi will not work there, only English will work,” he said.
