Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 27, refuted West Bengal Mamata Banerjee’s claims that her mike was put off during the NITI Aayog meet. While speaking to ANI, she accused TMC supremo of building a ‘narrative based on falsehood’. "CM Mamata Banerjee attended the Niti Aayog meeting. We all heard her. Every CM was given the allotted time and that was displayed on the screen which was present before every table...She said in the media that her mic was put off. That is completely false. Every CM was given their due time to speak...It`s unfortunate that the chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee has claimed that her mic was switched off which is not true...She should speak the truth behind this rather than again build a narrative based on falsehood," Nirmala Sitharaman
Union Budget 2024: Major tax reforms announced by FM Nirmala Sitharaman
The finance minister today announced the Union Budget 2024. When it comes to taxes, in her budget speech, she mentioned that the government’s focus is to simplify taxation. The Union Budget saw some major tax reforms, especially for the investors. However, the personal income tax was not untouched. While there were no surprises or shocks for the people opting for the old tax regime, there were two announcements made for those opting for the new tax regime.
