PM Modi extends greetings on 1st National Space Day
PM Modi, while taking to X, extended greetings to the people of India on the occasion of the first National Space Day. Marking the significant uprise in space sector, India is celebrating its first-ever National Space Day on August 23. Indian space sector has set its eyes on the ‘most-awaited’ Gaganyaan Mission, which is slated to be launched in 2024-25. Highlighting broader impact of space exploration, the theme of the day is “Touching Lives While Touching the Moon: India`s Space Saga”. On 23 August 2023, India achieved a historic milestone when the Chandrayaan-3 lander completed a soft landing on the moon. This remarkable accomplishment made India only the 4th country to accomplish this feat and 1st to land on lunar South Pole. In recognition of the achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared August 23 as National Space Day.
