BJP’s sharp counter as opposition boycotts new parliament opening
Ahead of the inauguration of the new Parliament building, the political heat is simmering across India. Opposition leaders including Congress have vehemently opposed PM Modi inaugurating the new Parliament. With a boycott letter, several leaders demanded that President Droupadi Murmu should inaugurate the new building. However, the BJP-led NDA launched a scathing counter by unequivocally condemning the Opposition’s decision. As the heated debate continues, BJP and Opposition leaders are locked in a fierce war of words. PM Modi will dedicate the newly constructed Parliament building to the nation on May 28. Opposition parties to boycott new parliament building inauguration by the PM
PM Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to inaugurate the new Parliament building on May 28. Invitations for the inaugural ceremony have been sent to various leaders across India. However, Congress, 18 other opposition parties have decided to boycott the inaugural function. Opposition demanding that the new parliament building should be inaugurated by the President, not by Prime Minister. They said that the new Parliament building should be inaugurated by President Murmu as per protocol. The scheduled date of inauguration has also irked opposition as May 28 is the birth anniversary of VD Savarkar. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah has appealed to the Opposition parties ‘not to politicise’ the event.
