Mumbai-based music producer and singer plus songwriter Himonshu Parikh is also a keyboardist. He is also one of the founding members of the renowned indie-rock band - The Yellow Diary (TYD). He joined us on our latest episode of the Indie Insider. Interestingly, he reveals that the superhit song Roz Roz of TYD came out of an experiment. The draft of the song had a different melody also with a different hook. It was out of an experimental beat that Himonshu played. Himonshu has produced many songs for the Hindi film industry and OTT projects in recent times, like Kesariya from Brahmastra and Kho Gaye from Mismatched, Bedardeya from Tu Jhoothi Main Makkar and also Ayushmann Khurrana`s latest single `Raatan Kaaliyan`. The Yellow Diary is a band of artists who are well known for their individual work, too. From talking about how the name of the band came to be, to how a good team is what makes them give the best of themselves, the band members talk about their journey as independent artists. Drunmer Sahil says, "Working with this group of friends is my biggest source of inspiration." "The name actually comes from how the music is written," said Himonshu. "All the songs the band writes are inspired by personal stories and about people they might have come across. The lyrics of their songs might just be thoughts or philosophies about which a person might be writing in his or her journal. Like `A Dear Diary`."According to the band, yellow is a very mysterious colour which usually means happy, but may have a very dark side to it. Even the songs by TYD have the same sort of expanse in terms of emotions - be it sad, happy, or anything in between.
