But the pleasant sight was short-lived. Soon, the wall was hijacked by the youth wing of the Republican Party of India (RPI) to advertise a youth meet. According to the graffiti, the event started on December 6 and will go on till December 13 at Y B Chavan Centre, near Mantralaya.

When asked for a clarification on the issue, Gautam Sonawane, city unit chief, RPI, simply said, “It should not have happened. We will pass on the message to our party workers and ask them not to do such things. It might have been a mistake.”

About 50 children and their parents had participated in the wall painting event. ‘GoodHomes for Art’ was launched in 2012 with the idea of having an art week in Mumbai and making art accessible to people i.e. bringing art out of galleries and into the homes of people. The organiser refused to comment on the matter.u00a0
