Hackers targeting websites that offer reunions with classmates
If you are planning to join a social networking website to reunite with old classmates, beware. You might end up revealing personal information to hackers. Cyber experts warn that as most people join networking sites to find friends, hackers are targeting websites that offer reunions with classmates.
"According to the social networking website Orkut, around 59 per cent of people use it to look for a friend. That is the reason cyber crooks are using social engineering to attack them. Most of the users do not verify links and click on them," said Vivek Vohra, a cyber security expert.
Users receive invites from websites like classmates.com. They are asked to click on a link to see details and a video. Clicking on the link directs users to a malicious webpage through which hackers steal information.
