A receptionist from UAE has alleged that her boyfriend got her pregnant and is now refusing to marry her, saying that she belongs to different community. Sapna Naidu (name changed) in her complaint to Upparpet police said she met Abdul Hafiz in UAE and the duo came down to their respective hometowns on vacation last year.

While Hafiz is from Kundapura, Sapna is from Hyderabad. Intially, they had met for a friendly chat, but later, the relationship blossomed into an affair. Hafiz invited Sapna to visit Bangalore for a casual trip. Sapna agreed, and they stayed at a resort for a week, where Hafiz proposed to her.u00a0 On her return, Sapna found out that she was pregnant. When she told Hafiz, he suggested she abort the child because his family wouldn't agree to a marriage otherwise. On his recommendation, Sapna went to Mumbai for an abortion.

Soon after, Hafiz started ignoring Sapna. Worried, she went to Kundapura to talk, but Hafiz told her that he could not marry her because she was from a different community. But she found out from a friend that Hafiz was busy preparing to get married to someone else.

Finally, Sapna approached the police after her parents shunted her out. Based on her complaint, the police registered a cheating case against Hafiz. "I have been lured and cheated by a person whom I trusted," she said. The Upparpet police has summoned Hafiz for questioning.
