PM Modi’s trusted aide and Gujarat cabinet minister Vijay Rupani is leading the race to be the next chief minister of Gujarat.

Others in the race are Rajya Sabha member Parsottam Rupala and Gujarat cabinet minister Nitin Patel.
In the absence of Anandiben, it is highly likely that the state might be handed over to Rupani, who is also a minister in Anandiben’s cabinet. Incidentally, it is his birthday today.
