A paramilitary trooper shot dead two of his colleagues and wounded two others inside a battalion headquarter in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police said Saturday.
A senior police officer said head constable Ramesh Chander of 164 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) shot dead two colleagues in a fit of rage with his automatic service rifle after an altercation with them Friday night.
"Two other troopers were also wounded in the shootout and they were evacuated to hospital for treatment," the officer said.
CRPF men inside the camp rushed out immediately and the trooper was overpowered. He was handed over to the local police Saturday morning.

Such incidents happen regularly here with defence officers attributing them to continuous deployment of troopers in hostile environment.
Authorities have deployed counsellors and troopers are given periodic leaves as separation from families is stated to be a reason for such incidents.
