A diary, which was recovered from one of the two terrorists gunned down by the Noida police at Sector 97 on Sunday, has revealed that they might have entered India through the Indo-Nepal border.

"The diary which we recovered contains the names of a few hotels. Though the terrorists had not written the full address of the hotels we have an idea that they are in Nepal. The diary also mentions the name of a hardware shop in Ghaziabad. We are verifying the details to trace the people who helped these terrorists sneak into the city," said a senior police official, wishing anonymity.

However, the police are not making any official comment about the investigations. Inspector Anil Samania, Station House Officer of the Sector 39 police station, said, "I cannot speak right now. We conducted the post-mortem of the two and will now be sending their bodies to Pakistan. Tomorrow we will speak to the Pakistan Embassy."

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Gautam Buddha Nagar district, Noida, remained unavailable despite several attempts made to contact him.

Meanwhile, the Noida police have released the four Kashmiri youths who had been picked up after the encounter.

In a pre-Republic Day security scare, the Noida police on Sunday had gunned down two terrorists identified as Ali Ahmed and Abu Ismail. The two were suspected of being members of Lashkar-e-Toiba. The police had recovered two AK 47 rifles, four magazines, nine RDX rods, grenades, Rs 18,000 cash and passports from the two.
