Spurned lover shoots at girl, attempts suicide

A 25-year-old girl sustained serious injuries today after she was allegedly shot at by a jilted lover following her refusal to accept his marriage proposal in Siyani Gater area here, police said
The accused, identified as Deepak, also tried to commit suicide by shooting himself, they said. According to a complaint lodged by the girl's parents, the youth was stalking their daughter for several months and also proposed her to tie knot with him.
However, when the girl rejected his proposal, he threatened her with dire consequences. The incident took place this evening when the victim was shot at by Deepak while she was going to her mother's grocery shop in Daulatpur area, police said.
Later, the accused also fired at himself in a bid to end his life. However, both of them were rushed to Yashoda Hospital where Deepak's condition is stated to be critical. The girl, who suffered bullet wounds on his neck, is reported to be out of danger, they said. Meanwhile, further probes are on, police added.u00a0
