Poor visibility due to dense fog led to disruption of air traffic from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport here since last midnight, airport sources said.
As a result of the fog, flights were suspended from 12 midnight to 6.30 am today, the airport sources said. Altogether 20 flights, including five international flights, could not take off or land during the period, the sources said.
The visibility rate which was around 300-350 metres at 11 pm last night dropped to 50 metres in the early hours on Wednesday leading to the suspension of flights, they said, adding that a visibility rate of 350 metres is necessary for operating flights from here.
Flights resumed at 6.30 am after visibility rate increased to 400 metres, the sources said.
