Anand’s wife Lilabai and daughter-in-law Sangeeta have also sustained major injuries after coming under the weight of the falling debris of the cemetery wall, situated in Laxminagar cemetery area of Jaijawannagar. The remaining part of the 20-year-old, 600-metre long wall is in a dilapidated condition due to which other residents residing along the wall have been shifted to a nearby municipal school by civic authorities.u00a0Mayor Chanchala Kodre, MLA Bapu Pathare visited the spot around 2 am, while Leader of the House in the PMC Subhash Jagtap, Deputy Commissioner Rajendra Jagtap, and local corporators arrived at the spot later in the morning.u00a0

According to police, Anand and Lilabai Billore had come to Pune from Jalgaon on Monday to watch the Ganeshotsav celebrations in the city. Sudhakar had returned home after the immersion of their Ganpati idol and the entire family had dinner together. After dinner Lilabai and Sangeeta were working in the kitchen while Anand and Sudhakar were sleeping in the front room when it started raining heavily.

Due to the heavy rains, the cemetery wall collapsed on the house and all four were trapped inside. Some neighbours heard the loud noise and rushed to help the Billores. However, due to fear of electrocution, they could not remove the tin-sheets and debris piled upon the victims.
