Student union members will answer queries posted on the social networking site

The class XII results are out and now students are faced with a new anxiety--- seeking admission in Delhi University, as the varsity has revised its admission process from this year. To help them know more about the process and make an informed decision about which course to choose, the University's student union has set up a page on the social networking site Facebook where students can post their queries regarding the revised admission process which this time does not include filling any pre-admission forms. The page has already started getting queries from the anxious students.

"Hi ufffd can you help me? I want to get admission into BA(Hons) economics at DU. Can you provide me any info regarding this? Please help me," posted Shruti Gupta, one of the students aspiring to study in the university.
Another post by a student Harsh Khurana read:u00a0 "What's the scope of Physics (honours)? I have appeared in my board exams this year...will there be any bright career prospect in physics by the time I finish my graduation and post- graduation ufffd"

Happy to help
The queries are mounting as the admission process is set to begin from June 15 when the first cut-off list will be announced and the student leaders are doing their best to extend help to these aspirants. "Like every year, members of the student union have volunteered to help and guide the new students. This time we went a step ahead and started a campaign on Facebook as it's a good platform to connect with everyone," said Neetu Dabas, secretary, Delhi University Students' Union.

Quite a situation
Meanwhile, college principals are busy sorting out the details of the new admission procedure. According to Bhim Sen Singh, principal Kirorimal College, admissions this time are going to be a bit chaotic as they would not have any data regarding the aspiring students beforehand. "I am on Facebook but I am not interacting with students in the present situation as I myself am not sure of how things will turn when the actual admission process begins," he said.

Higher cut-off
Dr Vijay Sharma, principal Ram Lal Anand College said, "A lot of students have scored above 95 per cent this time. The result was very good compared to last year. I am not on Facebook, but it's good if former students are showing the way to the aspiring ones." Principals of Miranda House and Hindu College too maintained that the first and second cut-off lists are going to be very high this time.

Quota unquote
The Delhi University will sell pre-admission forms for those applying under other reserved categories such as Scheduled Castes/ Tribes, Kashmiri Migrants, Physically Handi-capped and Armed Forces.
These forms will be available from May 28 and are expected to be available at four centres ufffd Arts Faculty in the North Campus, Shyam Lal College in Shahdara, Rajdhani College in Raja Garden and Delhi University South Campus.
