On May 8, the Election Commission announced the elections for the four Legislative Council seats: the Mumbai and Konkan graduates and Nashik and Mumbai teacher constituencies. Last week, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray announced the name of Anil Parab as the party candidate from the Mumbai graduate constituency.

Parab has taken a step towards victory in the elections as the Mahayuti candidate is still not announced. Parab said that the Mumbai graduate constituency had remained with Shiv Sena for the past thirty years. “Shiv Sena has taken the lead in voter registration and campaigning. This time too, my victory as a Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate from the Mumbai graduate constituency is certain with a record number of votes,” said Parab.

Parab has been a Shiv Sena MLC in the Legislative Council three times, in 2004, 2012, and 2018. For the first time, he is contesting the election from the Mumbai graduate constituency. Shiv Sainiks have registered a large number of voters in this constituency. Over 116,000 voters have been registered in this constituency this time.

Voting for the four Legislative Council seats will take place on June 26 between 8 am and 4 pm. The counting of votes and results will be announced on July 1. The term of the four legislators from the Legislative Council in these constituencies ends on July 7.
