"At 9.38 pm, I was at home with my family, when I heard the firing. I opened my door, which looks out on to Nariman House, and saw a man with a gun, firing repeatedly.

I began yelling in panic, went downstairs and stopped people from going towards Nariman House. I also called the police control room for help twice.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Isaac Bagwaan and a few police officers, plus five commandos reached the spot and I took them home from where they could see the terrorists in relative safety.

More forces came in at night and around 15 to 20 State Reserve Police Force officers stayed at my place over the next three days that Nariman House was under siege.

I cooked for them, but they hardly ever ate anything. I saw Moshe crying. His mother was crying for help. The sound of the firing and the grenades went on forever.

A year later

As a family, we have become more cautious. I also feel proud that I had a chance to help the officers and so, my country.

I was promised a certificate in recognition for my contribution in helping the men, but I never got one. Well, life goes on...
