The Bombay High Court on Thursday questioned the Western and Central Railways what steps have they taken to ensure availability of emergency medical aid in all railway stations after the November 26 audacious terror attack here.
A division bench of Chief Justice Swatanter Kumar and Justice DY Chandrachud directed authorities of both the railway lines and the state government to file a report on how they propose to deal with emergency situations with regard to medical facilities.
The report, which will have to be submitted by January 29, will have to state how the railways plans to provide ambulances at railway stations in both the lines.
The court has also directed the railways to provide statistics of number of victims who have died due to delay in providing them with medical aid, in the last six months.

The HC was hearing a PIL filed regarding non-availability of medical facilities to victims of accidents in railway stations. When asked by the HC, what kind of medical facilities are available at stations, railways counsel Suresh Kumar said that first aid boxes are kept at the station master's room.
"The first aid boxes will only have band-aids. We are not talking about medical aid for a person who has fallen down a staircase. We are talking about a person who might have cut his limbs after coming under a train," chief justice Kumar said.
