Though the police initially recovered sharp weapons from their possession, they learnt that Pawar had hidden other weapons in a car parked in Ghatkopar.

“We immediately sent a team to inspect the car , but primary search revealed nothing. It was an awkwardly tilted mirror that raised our suspicion. A mechanic was then called to dismantle the rear door. Once dismantled, the officials found a country-made pistol and a few cartridges,” an official said.
