The Crime Branch has also recorded the statement of the owner of the Scorpio, Mansukh Hiren. Hiren claims that on February 18, he left his vehicle on Vikhroli Highway due to technical glitches, after which it was stolen. He lodged an FIR with the Vikhroli police on the same day. The police are also interrogating garage owners, to check if the vehicle had been brought in for repairs.

According to police sources, the Innova was last spotted on Bhiwandi Nashik Road. It has not been detected ever since. The police are now conducting a search operation in a village around that area. Joint Commissioner of Crime Branch, Milind Bharambe, said, “We are still tracing the car and suspects. We are also trying to find how they procured the gelatin sticks.”
