Painter Kawita Thakur's tribute to 26/11 victims is being exhibited at the Oberoi Shopping Arcade at the Trident Hotel in Nariman Point till November 29.
"It is the right time to display my paintings, as the hotel will observe the anniversary of the November 26 attacks this month.
It is my tribute to those who lost their lives. I am happy to be given the opportunity to showcase my work," said Thakur.
The hotel has decided to keep one of her paintings as a memento.
"We encourage budding talent through the Art Walk initiative which provides artists an opportunity to share their work with our patrons.
This is why we have decided to take one of her paintings," said the spokesperson of The Trident Hotel.
However, the hotel said Thakur's paintings had little to do with 26/11. "Her paintings are about eternity.
They depict Lord Buddha. Only one of her paintings depicts the November 26 attacks. We don't take any money for renting the Art Walk space.
We take a deposit of Rs 5,000, which is returned after the exhibition is over," said the spokesperson.
