Powerful stories of resilience and struggle don’t just emerge from mainstream TV talk shows, is the opinion of Sabreen Haziq, creator of the Lavender Fix. The podcast chronicles stories of individuals who’ve tackled great challenges and emerged on top despite their circumstances. “I had an epiphany one day, where I thought to myself that there were so many people in my life with insanely terrific and relatable stories to share: stories others could realistically seek inspiration from. I’m always asking people what their story is because we’ve all persevered in some capacity in our own lives and those stories need to be documented,” shares the 29-year-old Bostonian in an email interview.
An individual is interviewed each podcast and informed research is conducted on both the individual and the topic to be covered beforehand by Haziq. “I have to do my homework, especially when I’m covering sensitive topics like cancer, alopecia, infertility, near-death experiences, etc, that require me to ask informed questions. I am motivated by those who are incredibly passionate about sharing their learnings and/or the secret sauce to their wins and how they persevered when everything else was falling apart in their lives,” she shares.

A social media marketer by profession, Haziq admits that her job has provided her a solid foundation to execute her interests seamlessly. “I created a roadmap for myself before launching The Lavender Fix, and so there’s always been a lot of intentionality behind this initiative. Having said that, at times it’s challenging to find meaningful stories because I’m not trying to release an episode every other week just because I have to unless there’s a story that’s worth sharing,” reveals Haziq. “The overall feedback and response has been overwhelming. Listeners have shared that they’ve had concrete takeaways from each episode because of the relatability factor. I’ve also had listeners share that the stories covered in the podcast speak of their own real-life experiences,” she adds.
