A still from Penguin Town
Penguin Town Season 1 (2021): Nature documentaries do not always have to be crammed with dramatic visuals of little penguins escaping killer whales or leopard seals. Netflix’s Penguin Town is a sentimental tale of a colony of penguins in the resort destination of Simon’s Town, South Africa. Narrated by Patton Oswalt, the series follows the lives and relationships of these penguins. The sight of them walking amongst residents, crossing the street, while managing their own life is at once relatable and funny.

Penguins to the people: The description sums it up — ‘It’s practically impossible to look at a penguin and feel angry’ — and we agree. The handle puts up one penguin post every day for emotional well-being. A look at the gallery of fluffy, happy penguin chicks and families gives you the rush of serotonin to get through the day. To be fair, this handle might just work for reasons beyond World Penguin Day.

BBC Best of Natural History Radio – Penguin Post Office: You cannot go wrong with this wonderful dramatic production by the BBC (British Broadcasting Company). Wildlife cameraman and director Andrew Graham-Brown travels to Antarctica to film a colony of Gentoo penguins. With the sounds of the ocean intermingled with the narration, the podcast is a window into the life of these courageous little birds who face storms, dangerous predators and paucity of food to find their love and family again.
