Artisanal homegrown products, a pup creche, and on-ground activities make The Green Co-op an eco-conscious weekend outing
The Green Co-op market at BKC
A bright green carpet is rolled out at JioWorld Drive in Maker Maxity, Bandra-Kurla Complex that leads us to an outdoor market. All along, the words ‘Earth First’ reveal that it is a community-driven philosophy that encourages consciousness around personal health, environmental welfare and local, indie offerings.
We stroll around 30 stalls, and stop to nibble some nolen gur by Two Brothers; we get our caffeine hit with a Nandan black coffee, and indulgences by I am Wholesome. Kids learn to skateboard, try their hand at pottery, while cute pups prance around in a crèche run by Wagtail Park. A staffer walks around with a board reminding visitors to wear their masks and that sanitiser stations have been set up. The market caps the number of visitors to less than 100. We like that there are other facilities including free parking, a concierge to deposit your bag, assistance to book cabs, portable chargers, and wheelchairs and prams on request. This weekend, the new entrants include VNYA Organic Store, Mizah Bakery, Nino’s Burgers, Cacio-e-Pepe and Missus Sippi beverages. Here are The Guide’s top three picks:

Who will win the Punjab Elections?
Founders Advaith Inamke and Aditya Rai started Nomad Food Project as a bootstrapped venture in Pirangut, Pune two years ago. It was part of their research topic while studying hospitality at IHM Mumbai. Most of their products are dedicated to bacon. We try the bourbon bacon relish (Rs 350) on a cracker. It is a stiff mix of both ingredients that sets our palate on fire. The bacon thecha (R350) is another fiery warrior.

Fresh atta by Tillage
We loved this indigenous grocery store offering fruits, flours, rice, honey, jaggery and A2 ghee. We take home Kinnow oranges from Punjab and nachni — that made for scrumptious bhakris — and bajra flours.

Anti-dessert laadu by Hatti & Giraffe
A year ago, Deonar-based Shrikar Bhave and Girija Salgaonkar got an overwhelming response to their anti-dessert laadu at a stall. We tried one that is a mix of 10 ingredients, and loved the Konkani coconut wadi, too.
